It seems like New Year’s resolutions are a mix of habits and dreams. I want to maintain good habits, such as daily exercise and optimal nutrition, and achieve better sleep and finances. So, I created my exercise space, downloaded the Les Mills app, and bought a calendar to plan a schedule. I’ve compiled recipes and purchased a regular alarm clock to keep my phone out of my bedroom to promote better sleep—and less social media. Last but not least, I made a budget that Dave Ramsey would be proud of!

“Habits (whether healthy or unhealthy) don’t add up, they compound.”

—Chris Natzke, Mind of a Champion

While these are all small daily habits, they do compound. The challenge is to look ahead a decade to where I hope to be and see the tiny steps that will result in that simple, healthy, beautiful life. Then, I pray that God will enable me to be faithful in these little things, day by day, without any fanfare, which is the difficult part. Also, I want to dare to dream a little as well: I wanted to take a trip to Israel, but next on the list was Alaska. Maybe I’ll learn to make pottery and sourdough bread. Or, I’ve always wanted to skydive!

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”

—C.S. Lewis

2023 wouldn’t have been the same without you. I’m grateful for our friendship and unbelievably excited to see what God has planned for us in 2024. Sarah Hayhurst Editorial, LLC wishes you a blessed, peaceful, and productive New Year.

“O Lord, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him? Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down! Touch the mountains so that they smoke!

—Psalm 144:3-5
